Iranian media reported Monday the 15 British sailors and marines it is holding confessed to trespassing into Iranian waters.

State radio and the Al Alam television network aired brief clips of two of the sailors describing from a map where they were seized, the BBC reported.

I’d like to say to the Iranian people, I can understand why you are so angry about our intrusion into your waters, one of the sailors said in the broadcast. So far we’re being treated very well by all the people here.

The group was inspecting an Indian-registered ship as part of anti-smuggling operations and taken into custody on March 23 by Revolutionary Guards.

Britain claims the crew was in Iraqi waters but Iran insists they were in its territory.

Britain’s Foreign Office said showing the group on TV was unacceptable.

Last week, Iran released three letters from Faye Turney, the lone woman among the 15, in which she apologizes for entering Iranian waters, CNN reported.
