Pilgrims Observe Good Friday in Old City
April 6, 2007
As Christians around the world observed Good Friday, the day of Jesus’ crucifixion, worshippers flocked to Jerusalem’s Old City for the annual procession.
Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world retraced the footsteps of Jesus at the 14 Stations of the Cross down narrow cobblestone streets, led by four men with large wooden crosses on their shoulders.
Israeli troops armed with assault rifles guarded the route but the pilgrims showed little notice, Voice of America reported.
