Sarkozy Leads France Race
April 26, 2007
The latest poll shows a tight race for the French presidency.
With two weeks until the May 5 run-off, the poll for France’s Le Figaro newspaper showed right-wing candidate Nicolas Sarkozy is favored by 51 percent to 49 percent for socialist Segolene Royal, The London Telegraph said Wednesday.
The two candidates are actively courting the 7 million people who voted for the centrist candidate François Bayrou in Sunday’s first round of voting, the newspaper said.
The poll suggested that 25 percent of Bayrou supporters will vote for Sarkozy and 46 percent will vote for Royal. Twenty-nine percent were undecided.
