Iran’s Nuclear Progress a Train Which Has No Brakes or Rear Gear – President
Text of report by Vision of the Islamic Republic of Iran Esfahan Provincial TV on 25 May
The president told a group of Esfahan Province’s war veterans, disabled war veterans, martyrs’ families and former prisoners of war last night Esfahan’s war veterans, disabled war veterans and martyrs were among the first groups to arrive in Khorramshahr and what happened [liberation 25 years ago Thursday of the Iranian city during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s] transcended time and geographical boundaries and we are still witnessing its consequences around the world.
Dr Mahmud Ahmadinezhad said only a small number of events make history, adding the names of our martyrs will go down in history and that even students recall a great number of these names.
The president added that because the liberation of Khorramshahr was meant to serve God, its effects such as the stabilization of the revolution are still in evidence and the liberation changed all political equations in the world. Ever since the enemy has been in full retreat, he said.
The president further said Muslims are relying on Iran today adding all oppressed nations are pinning their hopes on the Iranian nation because Iran offers them a glimmer of hope.
In a sentence aimed at families of martyrs and war veterans, Dr Ahmadinezhad said thank God today the Islamic Republic of Iran is on the verge of a huge development and this is the very same thing you made sacrifices for.
He said major powers believe a nuclear Iran would spell an end to their prime, adding this does not mean that Iran seeks to develop [nuclear] bombs, but that the victory of the Iranian people on the political stage will be followed by major developments and they view this as reason for their destruction.
Recalling the two-year suspension of Iran’s nuclear activities to build trust on the international stage, the president said they [major powers] sought to close down universities and scientific centres related to peaceful nuclear technology including physics and mathematics centres in addition to the country’s nuclear centres and had officially conveyed this to us.
Dr Ahmadinezhad said after we resumed our nuclear activities, they once again raised the question of suspension and suggested that we stop nuclear fuel production so that they could give us fuel and other incentives.
He said the Islamic Republic of Iran is opposed to proposals as such adding in response to their proposals we said we are ready to offer them nuclear fuel on a lower price so that they could stop their fuel cycle.
The chairman of the Supreme National Security Council said major powers resort to psychological warfare to force Iran to suspend its peaceful nuclear activities even for a moment, adding if that happened they would use their propagation machine to create an environment so that we could not continue our activities.
The president said the Iranian nation will not retreat a single step from its inalienable right to peaceful nuclear technology adding not only will we not suspend the activity of centrifuges but we are quickly boosting our nuclear fuel cycle [capability] to become an exporter of nuclear fuel.
Dr Ahmadinezhad likened Iran’s nuclear progress to a train which has no brakes or rear gear adding honest people are steering the train though.
The president said resolutions adopted by the Security Council under pressure from bullying powers to slap sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran will not work adding such sanctions are bound to harm them more than us and are inert.
The chairman of the Supreme National Security Council further said those who are opposed to the nuclear progress of the Iranians should know that their struggles to interfere with the movement of the Iranian nation are ineffective and that Iran will never suspend its nuclear activities.
Dr Ahmadinezhad further said correction and administration of justice are the most difficult parts of Islamic governance adding the commander of the faithful [the first Shi'i imam] fell martyr to establish justice and that unfortunately there are people in our society today that make u-turns when it comes to administration of justice and even go further and interfere with this [administration of justice].
In conclusion, the president said under the deal we have made with God and the public, we will never keep silent; rather we will exhaust our power to curb the diversionary current of society.
