Afghan President Hamid Karzai escaped unharmed Sunday when Taliban rockets landed near him in the province of Ghazni.

Karzai urged calm and finished his speech as the rockets targeted the building where he was speaking, BBC News reported. No one was injured.

It was the third attempt on Karzai’s life in recent years.

In fighting elsewhere in Afghanistan, 30 Taliban and two police were killed during clashes near the Turkmenistan border in the northwest part of Afghanistan, government officials told the BBC. The Taliban disputed the government’s account.

In earlier violence, 27 insurgents were killed in NATO air strikes in Shinkay, a Afghani general was shot dead in central Kandahar while having his hair cut and a British soldier was killed in fighting in Helmand, the BBC reported.
