An Afghan student was sentenced to 20 years in prison instead of death for blaspheming by circulating an article about the rights of women under Islam.

Russia announced a successful test launch of a nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile Wednesday. Strategic Missile Forces said the RS-18, also known as the SS-19 Stiletto, lifted off from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan en route to an unspecified target.
