Teen Drives Truck Into River, Gets Stuck
NESCOPECK, Pa. – A 16-year-old drove his pickup truck onto an island in the Susquehanna River, but the return trip was less than smooth sailing. Dominic Ruckle could not maneuver back up the steep, muddy bank he had driven down Sunday, and got stuck on a tree stump when he tried to drive along the water’s edge to an access road.
“I don’t know anybody who’s ever done this, so I thought I’d give it a try,” Ruckle said.
More than a dozen spectators gathered on the Berwick-Nescopeck Bridge to watch him try to rock his truck off of the stump.
Finally, after several failed attempts, Matt Slusser of Berwick succeeded in towing him out with his heavy-duty pickup.
Nescopeck Police Chief James Disidoro said he may issue trespassing and other citations to Ruckle if he is not cited by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
