Ex-Postal Worker Accused of Keeping Mail

A former U.S. Postal Service worker in Howell, Mich., allegedly kept thousands of pieces of mail in a storage locker, authorities say.
A special agent for the postal service's Office of Inspector General alleges in federal court documents that Jill Mary Hull stored thousands of pieces of mail that should have been delivered between 2005 and August, The Detroit News said Wednesday.
Agent Douglas Mills said in an affidavit entered in U.S. District Court in Detroit that Hull allegedly kept mail that she had been unable to deliver during her time with the post office.
"Hull said she was unable to get the mail delivered on time, so she left what she could not deliver in her car and drove around with it," he alleged.
The mail was discovered in a storage locker in September after Hull allegedly failed to pay her monthly bill for months, the News reported.
The newspaper said Hull faces a charge of embezzling mail for the 236 parcels, nearly 1,000 first-class letters and more than 4,000 pieces of standard mail allegedly found in her locker.
