NORAD gears up for Santa Claus tracking

The U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command says it is again preparing to track Santa Claus live from Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado.

NORAD officials said Tuesday they had activated their Santa Web site,, and will update it daily until Christmas Eve, when they will start tracking Santa with live video feeds.

The Web site, designed by Booz Allen Hamilton, allows Santa's fans to get up-to-the-minute reports and streaming videos from key stops on the jolly elf's trip around the world, employing Google software to stream live images from NORAD's high-speed digital Santa Cams.

NORAD officials say all of the Santa updates will be available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, and new for this year, Chinese.

Canada Post says it has partnered with NORAD to ensure children can send e-mails to Santa's North Pole workshop.
