Crematorium ovens to heat crematorium
New ovens in a crematorium in Halmstad, Sweden, are to be used to heat the crematorium itself and maybe one day the town, says the cemetery administrator.
The plan was hatched after a review of the current crematorium showed it wasn't as environmentally friendly as it could be and that new ovens could heat the facility and someday help heat the town.
After all this talk about the environment we realized we should take advantage of the heat created during cremation, said Lennart Andersson.
The new ovens should be up and running in 2010, said Andersson, adding that he hopes the idea doesn't offend anyone, The Local reported Wednesday.
There won't be anything different about the ashes, he said.
