Web game leads to bomb scare
Police in Urbana, Ohio, say an Internet game played like a scavenger hunt caused a bomb scare and forced the evacuation of a retail area.
The bomb squad was summoned Sunday night after witnesses told police they saw a man place something under the metal base of a lamp pole, The Dayton (Ohio) Daily News reported Monday.
The 35-mm film canisters subsequently found under the base of the pole turned out to be part of an Internet game called
geocaching in which players find hidden objects by using global positioning systems to track coordinates listed on Web sites, police said.
The canisters contained slips of paper with the names of players who had found the canisters, police said.
