Family marks New Year with ice bowling
A Wisconsin couple said they have marked the last nine New Year’s Eve celebrations by constructing two-lane ice bowling alleys near their home.
Jim and Terry Mahler said they came up with the idea to hold an ice bowling party for friends and family years ago as a way to keep everyone visiting their Oostburg home awake until midnight, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported Thursday.
Honestly, that’s why we started doing this, Terry Mahler said.
We’re all getting older, and if you go to someone’s house at 7, by 10 you’re yawning.
The Mahlers said the usual location for the bowling alley, on the Black River near his home, thawed last weekend, so this year’s celebration took place on a neighbor’s pond.
