Police: Woman left crash scene for salon

Posted on: Friday, 16 January 2009, 13:11 CST

Florida police said an elderly woman was arrested after she allegedly crashed her car into a man riding a scooter and left the scene for a hair appointment.

Police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said Louise Davidson, 77, allegedly pulled into the path of an oncoming scooter that had the right of way while driving near her home in Boynton Beach, Fla., at about 10 a.m. Thursday, the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reported Friday.

The man riding the scooter, identified by police as Matthew Clark, hit the driver's side of Davidson's silver Toyota and was thrown onto the woman's windshield before he fell to the ground, police said.

Davidson told investigators she did not see what she hit and continued driving to the beauty salon to have her hair washed.

Clark was taken to Bethesda Hospital with abrasions all over his body. Police said his injuries are not considered life threatening.

Davidson was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an injury crash. She was released after posting $3,000 bail.
