Burglars are surveillance footage stars

Several burglars failed to notice their illicit actions in a computer store in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., were filmed by security cameras, the store's owner says.

Computer Sights owner Todd Myers said after images of the burglars were captured by the store's security system, that video was shown on televisions throughout the store for the criminal visitors, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel said Thursday.

They were watching themselves break in, Myers said of Wednesday's theft. How stupid could you be?

Unbeknownst to the burglars, Computer Sights doubles as a security equipment vendor equipped with a system that e-mailed a burglary photo directly to Myers' cell phone.

Police suspect the individuals behind the Computer Sights theft may be linked to a burglary at a Radio Shack in nearby Wilton Manors, Fla., mere minutes later.

Wilton Manors police detective David Jones told the Sun-Sentinel the crimes may have been the actions of two groups working together, first hitting the Fort Lauderdale store, then the Wilton Manors store.
