Pay docked after gun left in bathroom

A Swedish police disciplinary committee has docked an inspector's wages for five days after she left her gun in a courthouse bathroom used by the public.

The committee said the Kalmar inspector left her gun in the lavatory at the city's district court July 1, The Local reported Tuesday.

The gun was returned to the inspector without incident but the committee said a harsher punishment than a warning was required because the bathroom was accessible by members of the public.

By failing to keep control of your weapon, with the consequence that it was left behind in the toilets, you have displayed insufficient care and heedfulness, the committee wrote in its ruling.
