February 10, 2009

Authorities in Ohio said an 18-year-old has been arrested for allegedly charging more than $37,000 in online candy purchases to a high school.

Jad Holmes, 18, is due to appear in Middletown Municipal Court Wednesday to face two fifth-degree felony counts of telecommunications fraud after he allegedly placed two candy orders for $19,880 and $17,372 with a Michigan-based company and billed the purchases to Middletown High School, the Middletown Journal reported Tuesday.

Police said Holmes, who is also facing two fourth-degree felony theft of drugs charges, was arrested after taking possession of one of the orders.

Holmes is being held at the Middletown City Jail in lieu of $30,700 bond.
