Deputy mayor to the rescue after mugging
New York’s deputy mayor said he tussled
with a mugger who had snatched a woman’s BlackBerry cell phone.
Deputy Mayor Ed Skyler, 35, said he heard a woman shout Tuesday that a mugger had stolen her mobile phone and he gave chase until the teen perpetrator slipped on some ice on 48th Street and we sort of tussled on the ground for a little bit,
the New York Post reported Thursday.
Skyler said he tried to hold the thief, but the teen slipped away and fled with a group of friends. However, the thief dropped the cell phone while making his escape.
I did what I thought was the right thing to do at the time,
Skyler said.
The owner of the BlackBerry, Victoria Kress, 41, said the incident made her feel safer about living and working in New York than I ever have felt before.
