Man plans to use prison to meditate

A Malaysian man who admitted to drug possession said he welcomes his prison sentence because it will allow him to meditate.

Ismail Hashim, 28, pleaded guilty to two counts of drug possession in Magistrates Court after he was caught Jan. 12 with small amounts of heroin and methamphetamine, The Star (Malaysia) reported Friday.

Magistrate Mohd Fuad Abd Aziz sentenced Hashim to the maximum sentence of five years in prison. Hashim was asked if he wanted to appeal for a lighter sentence, but he refused, saying he wanted to use his prison time to tafakur, or meditate.
