Cold worker traps himself in oven

Swedish authorities say they're conducting a review of a company where a truck driver tried to warm himself in an industrial oven and became trapped.

Officials told Sveriges Radio that the driver climbed onto a conveyor belt that led into an oven at a kitchen and bathroom fixtures manufacturing facility in Hassleholm, Sweden, in an attempt to escape the cold in the company's loading dock.

But because of the man's hefty stature, the conveyor shut down just as he was going through the oven, trapping him in the dangerously hot environment, the broadcaster said.

Sweden's Work Environment Authority said the oven operator who rescued the truck driver would be given counseling to work through the shock he suffered, adding that it plans to perform a thorough risk assessment of the company's surveillance capabilities around its ovens.
