‘Burberk’ a literal sign of change

Residents of New York have been able to look up and see a sign reading Burberk as Burberry clothing replaces a New York sign with its company name.

The New York Post said Thursday the hybrid word came about as the New York sign was taken down and the Burberry sign was being put into place at the top of a 42-story tower in downtown New York.

The sign name change came about as the result of the fashion group leasing out the building's 13th through 16th floors.

The company's agreement to lease more than 68,000 square feet included the right to place its name brand atop the tower in place of New York.

The Post said sign change comes after New York magazine has enjoyed topping the locale for the last decade.
