Sleepwalking boy prompts rescue effort
A sleepwalking boy in England sparked a massive search after he was reported to be walking toward a beach.
The Daily Telegraph reported Friday that the search involved police and coast guard rescue teams in Gorleston-on-Sea. A call was made to emergency officials that a boy about 11-years-old was walking down the street in pajamas, crying, the newspaper said.
No sign of the boy was found, suggesting that he managed to crawl back into bed without notice.
The Sea King rescue helicopter that was scrambled to the scene from its base around 50 miles away spent two hours searching the area early Friday morning, the Telegraph said.
We were alerted by police at 1.15 a.m. and told that a caller had reported a boy outside in his pajamas and crying, a coast guard spokesman said.
The suggestion was it was possible that he might have been out sleepwalking and unaware of his surroundings.
