Theft suspect filled out job application
Police in Ohio said a man suspected of stealing from a clothing store stopped to fill out a job application before leaving the scene.
Investigators said Stanley Wright, 49, concealed T-shirts and pants from Deveroes in Dayton, Ohio, under his shirt and the waistline of his pants and filled out a job application at the store’s checkout counter before attempting to leave with the items, the Dayton Daily News reported Thursday.
Wright set off an alarm as he left the store and managers said an examination of the store’s inventory revealed about $400 worth of clothing was missing.
Police said they used Wright’s job application to track him to his address, where he was found ironing one of the pairs of jeans he is accused of stealing.
Wright was arrested and charged with misdemeanor theft. He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.
