Chocolate seller: Shipment full of moths
A Florida chocolate seller said she refused to pay for more than $4,500 worth of chocolate from a wholesaler because it was full of moths.
Wholesaler Mar-len Confections of Largo, Fla., filed a suit against Chocolates by Michelle of Port Richey, Fla., after the owner of the business, Michelle Palisi, 62, refused to pay for the delivered chocolate, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Thursday.
Palisi said in a countersuit against the wholesaler that she refused to pay because the chocolate was laden with moths.
They sold me bad chocolate, said Palisi, a 25-year veteran of the chocolate business.
Rules set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration state that chocolate must contain less than an average 60 insect fragments per 100 grams, or about one-fifth of a pound, of candy.
