Boston police said a man who caressed the elbow of an undercover officer groped another officer who identified himself as police.
Officials said the undercover Transit Police officer was on the bus platform at Dudley Station to watch for cell phone thieves when he was approached by a man who began stroking his elbow and muttered a crude sexual invitation, the Boston Globe reported Thursday.
The officer signaled for assistance and other transit officers came up to the man and identified themselves as police. However, the man repeated the sexual invitation to the officer leading him away and groped him.
It's not a very smart move, let us put it that way, to accost a person who has identified themselves as a police officer,
Transit Police Chief Paul MacMillan said.
Police said the man, identified in court records as Ricardo Linarez-Lopez, 41, was arrested and charged with indecent assault and battery. He was released after posting $500 bail.
