Teen finds boa in NYC apartment

A New York teenager said a battle of wits with a boa constrictor that wandered into his family's home ended with police nabbing the snake in a pillowcase.

Kareem Lewis, 18, said he woke up at about 10 a.m. Sunday, while his mother was in church, and came face to face with the mean looking -- but non-venomous -- snake, the New York Post reported Monday.

The snake was just staring at me, Lewis said. I started to panic when he started to slither at me.

Lewis said he dialed 911 and stared the reptile down until police arrived and captured it in a pillow case. The snake was turned over to animal control officers.

The teenager said he does not know how the snake got into his family's first-floor apartment, but he guessed it may have slithered in a window.
