Police: Man reported drug dealer robbery
Police in Florida said a man called 911 to report a marijuana dealer had taken his money without giving him drugs.
Cmdr. Marc Claycomb, spokesman for the Melbourne Police Department, said the victim, whose name was not released, called 911 Saturday to report that Michael Parda, 20, allegedly had brandished a .380-caliber handgun, taken his $550 and driven away without giving him the agreed upon 2 ounces of marijuana, the (Fort Myers, Fla.) News Press reported Friday.
It does happen,Claycomb said of the incident.
More often than not, (the victims) don't (call).
Claycomb said Parda was pulled over by officers minutes after the 911 call.
Parda allegedly told the officers:
I didn't want to rob a good person. I didn't think a guy buying drugs would call the cops.
Parda, a Melbourne resident, was charged with robbery with a firearm and possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis. He is due in court July 23.
Claycomb said possible charges against the victim are still being investigated.
(The victim) said that money was going to be used to buy drugs. The money was seized and signed over by the victim to us, Claycomb said.
As soon as the victim pulled the cash out, the suspect grabbed it, so the transaction never took place. But there still is the possibility that a case could be made.
