Festival honors wonders of duct tape

Residents of Avon, Ohio, embraced the many uses of duct tape during the city's annual Duct Tape Festival, a maker of the versatile tape says.

ShurTech Brands LLC, which manufactures household and office products, said in a news release that Saturday's Sixth Annual Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival in Avon included a parade full of floats made out of duct tape.

Event judges rated the more than 20 parade entries based on originality and how much duct tape used in their creations. The winner of the $1,000 Tip Top Tape prize was Spark of Hope's Frog float.

The festival also included duct tape arts and crafts, along with a contest to find a hidden message among a group of duct tape sculptures.

Festival visitors could also meet the 10 couples chosen by the Duct Tape brand to receive duct tape Stuck at Prom Scholarships.
