Police said a Florida man charged with domestic battery allegedly sprayed his wife with a garden hose for smoking in the house.
The police report of the incident said the victim arrived at her Jensen Beach home Saturday evening while smoking a cigarette. Her husband, John Murray, 51, yelled at her about smoking in the house and sprayed her with a hose, TCPalm.com reported Tuesday.
The report said the victim attempted to call a friend, but Murray tried to wrestle the phone from her because he thought she was trying to call police. During the struggle, Murray allegedly hit the victim in the mouth with his elbow, the report said.
Murray told police he did not intend to spray his wife with the hose, and the water that reached her was merely over spray.
