Firefighters free dog wedged in pipe
July 15, 2009
Firefighters in Virginia freed a border collie that spent 20 hours wedged inside a 10-inch drainage pipe, the dog’s owner said.
Ben Prins of Crozet said his dog, Scout, likely chased a squirrel into the pipe Monday and became wedged in the tight space, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported Wednesday.
Prins said his family discovered the dog Tuesday by following the sound of its whimpering and barking.
He said firefighters arrived and used a backhoe to free the dog from the pipe. Prins said Scout was uninjured, but badly in need of a bath.
