Bikini Cyclist reveals all to fans

A nearly-nude cyclist, dubbed the Classy Tallahassee Bikini Bicyclist, in the Florida capital has become a bona fide local celebrity, residents say.

A Facebook group dedicated to the Bikini Cyclist -- real name Richard Irby, 55 -- has gathered more than 1,000 members, and numerous fans turned out at a recent meet-and-greet to meet the man behind the bicycle, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Monday.

Irby, appearing fully dressed at Helen's Silver Bullet Diner, revealed to fans that he had suffered a traumatic brain injury when he was hit by a car while in high school. He said he still has difficulty walking and speaking, but bicycling is what makes him feel free.

I ride in a bikini because it's comfortable,'' said Irby, who is known to communicate while cycling only by flashing the peace sign at fans and detractors alike. I just love to ride my bike."
