Monkey at large after plant store thefts

July 22, 2009

The owners of a suburban Dallas plant store say they won’t seek Texas-style justice for a monkey that has been ripping them off.

Shelley Rosenfeld told WFAA-TV, Dallas/Fort Worth, the whole situation was just too silly to get the police involved.

Surveillance cameras at the Plants and Planters store in Richardson caught the small monkey handing plants and other merchandise over the fence, possibly to an accomplice on the other side. The store had installed the cameras after a rash of plant thefts.

I mean, it’s really hard to believe a monkey would come over here and do it, but it’s pretty clear that it’s a monkey, Rosenfeld said.

Richardson police were informed of the incident, but so far no posse has been organized.
