Police in New York state said a Dunkin' Donuts employee armed only with a lit cigarette prevented a robber from stealing a bank bag.
Syracuse police Lt. Joe Cecile said Lisa Webb, 45, who works at the doughnut shop, had gone outside with the bank bag at about 12:24 p.m. and was confronted by a man who demanded the bag, The (Syracuse, N.Y.) Post-Standard reported Thursday.
Cecile said the suspect let go of the bag when a second female Dunkin' Donuts worker, whose name was not released, burned him with a lit cigarette. The attacker struck the employee over the head and took her Blackberry phone before fleeing.
Police said the employee suffered minor injuries.
