National Mustard Day headed for new home

July 31, 2009

Organizers of National Mustard Day said the main celebration, involving free hot dogs and music, will be held in Mount Horeb, Wis., this year for the last time.

Officials with the town’s Mustard Museum said the facility and its annual mustard celebration, which involves free hot dogs with mustard and a $10 surcharge for those brave enough to ask for ketchup, are moving 18 miles away next year to Middleton, Wis., USA Today reported Friday.

Village administrator Larry Bierke said the town’s 6,700 residents are disappointed to see such a large tourist attraction leave. He said he is working on luring a new destination location to Mount Horeb.

The National Mustard Day festivities, including performances from the Poupon U Accordion Band, begin Saturday.
