Police: Man put ‘hoax device’ in hotel
Police in Georgia say a county bomb squad determined a suspicious package outside a hotel room was a bogus device.
Gwinnett County Police said the package reported late Thursday night outside a room at the LaQuinta Inn in Duluth was placed there by one of two men staying inside the hotel room, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday.
Police Cpl. Illana Spellman said the men had left the room before the bomb squad arrived, and
when they came back, the male who put the hoax device outside the door appeared to be under the influence and was arrested.
Frank Dallas Hurley of The Colony, Texas, was charged with driving under the influence and a misdemeanor count of unlawful manufacture of a destructive device. He was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail in lieu of $7,200 bond.
