Deputy tosses gator into Florida lake

Authorities in Florida said an alligator reported wandering in an apartment complex was grabbed by the tail and thrown into a lake by a sheriff's deputy.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the alligator, which they estimated to be about three feet long, was seen in the parking lot of Orlando's Colonial Grand Apartments at about 5 a.m. Wednesday, WFTV, Orlando, Fla., reported Wednesday.

Officials said animal control was not called to remove the alligator due to its small size. Instead, a deputy grabbed the reptile by its tail and threw it into a nearby lake.
