Police: Alleged carjacker wanted jail
Police in Florida said a man accused of carjacking a woman at knifepoint told officers he was trying to get sent back to jail.
Deltona police said Jackie Kendrick, 40, who served a jail sentence for carjacking in 2000, jumped into the woman's Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible while she was pulling away from a Publix store Wednesday afternoon, showed her his knife and told her to exit the vehicle, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Thursday.
Kendrick was arrested and charged with armed carjacking and grand theft. Police said he told officers he had a weakness for vehicles and wanted to return to jail.
