COL FB: Texas 64, Texas-El Paso 7
Colt McCoy threw for three touchdowns and 286 yards in less than three quarters Saturday to lead second-ranked Texas to a 64-7 win over Texas-El Paso.
McCoy, who completed 28-of-35, threw two TD passes to Dan Buckner, and Jordan Shipley caught 10 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. Melvin Stephenson returned an interception for UTEP’s lone touchdown.
Vondrell McGree rushed for 104 yards and a TD on eight carries for Texas (4-0), which set a school record with its 16th consecutive non-conference win.
UTEP’s Trevor Vittatoe threw four interceptions and lost a fumble while connecting on just 7-of-21 passes for 38 yards. Donald Buckram gained 46 yards on nine carries for UTEP (1-3), which was out-gained 638-53.
