Eagles Closing Court for Unruly Fans

An in-stadium court set up to deal with unruly Eagles fans might be out session for good because crowds are more orderly at the team’s new home.

Judge Seamus McCaffery has presided over Eagles Court since 1997. He said the court will not be operating for Sunday’s game against Dallas.

“We didn’t feel like we were any longer a part of (the Eagles’) future, like there was any real interest,” he said in Saturday’s Philadelphia Daily News.

Since the team moved to Lincoln Financial Field this season, Eagles Court has seen a sharp drop in cases involving disorderly fans compared to the years at rough-and-tumble Veterans Stadium. The new stadium features an enhanced video security system, increased security guards and more bathrooms.

Team spokesman Ron Howard told the Daily News that Eagles Court could return if more problems arise. The new stadium was built with jail cells.

The court forced offenders to give up season tickets, pay a $400 fine and sit in jail for the rest of the game.
