End Zone Cell Phone Call Draws Penalty

New Orleans Saints receiver Joe Horn celebrated his second touchdown against the New York Giants on Sunday by making a cell-phone call in the end zone.

After a 13-yard scoring reception in the second quarter, Horn ducked behind the goal post and took a cell phone from teammate Michael Lewis, who had pulled the phone from beneath the padding around the post.

Horn's surprising action cost the Saints 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct on the ensuing kickoff.

When Horn returned to the sideline, he was immediately confronted by Saints coach Jim Haslett, who was obviously unhappy with his receiver. Horn returned to the game on the Saints' next possession.

Haslett said Horn should be fined for his actions.

"It was uncalled for," Haslett told ESPN before the start of the second half. "We don't do that here.

"Obviously he'll be fined for it, and he should be fined for it."

Horn's phone call might have outdone San Francisco's Terrell Owens' Sharpie episode.

Owens whipped a pen from his sock after scoring a fourth-quarter touchdown in the 49ers' 28-21 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Oct. 2002. He signed the ball and handed it to his financial consultant, seated in a nearby suite.
