NICOSIA, Cyprus - Police criticized a Cypriot bank Wednesday after it handed over money to a helmeted man armed only with a bag.
"When they see someone wearing a (motorbike) helmet, it would be good if they first made sure he is a customer," Larnaca police chief Andreas Krokos said.
On Wednesday morning, the man pressed the bank's buzzer - a normal procedure at the branch in Aradhippou, near the coastal city of Larnaca - and was let in by unsuspecting employees who mistook him for a customer, police said.
He ordered a teller to put the money in his bag and left, police said. There were no other customers in the bank at the time.
The robber drove off on his scooter with around 15,000 Cyprus pounds (US$31,000), police said.
