Talking Parking Meters Tell You to Move

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - In a city where snow and ice is everywhere in winter, keeping parked cars clear of the snowplow may become a bit easier.
Sweden's capital will install 10 parking meters this month that will use pre-recorded messages to alert car-parkers about when street cleaning will take place, said Lars Hammar of the Stockholm Real Estate, Streets and Traffic Department.
"In this way, we hope it will be possible to clean and clear snow from empty streets," he told The Associated Press Monday.
He said the meters are programmed to say "Many streets are cleaned during the day. Please check the parking signs," when the first coin is put in the meter.
