Australians Strip to Protest Iraq War

source: Associated Press Strange News

BYRON BAY, Australia – About 750 women took off their clothes and formed a heart shape around the words “No War” on an Australian hillside Saturday, in an attempt to send an anti-war message to the Australian government, police said.

The nude women held their pose for an aerial photo shoot in northern New South Wales state, said a local police spokesman on condition of anonymity.

He said the women, along with several children, staged the protest on private property in the hills behind Byron Bay, 435 miles north of Sydney. They wanted to send Prime Minister John Howard a message to recall Australian troops from the Middle East, he said.

Australia has joined the United States and Britain as the only countries to send military personnel to the Persian Gulf ahead of a possible war with Iraq.
