‘Whatever’ Named Most Annoying Word…Again

For the third straight year Americans call “whatever” the most annoying word or phrase in English conversation, according to the latest Marist Poll released on Friday.

  • Clothing, especially sumptuous clothing; equipment; outfit.
  • To cover with a caparison, as a horse.
  • To dress sumptuously; adorn with rich dress.
This word ultimately comes from the Medieval Latin 'cappa,' cloak.
