Social Media Workshop: The new social world of Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn and the like is an overwhelming avalanche of information. Many meeting professionals are paralyzed by too much information, despite a recognition that this "wave of the future" is here to stay. The fact is that using social media in a targeted way can improve the meeting experience before, during and after a meeting or event. To take one example, using LinkedIn groups and messages one can "get the word out" of an upcoming meeting and pre-discuss the agenda. During the meeting, using an effective Twitter #hashtag can allow for instant feedback and discussion, and can even extend the conversation afterwards. Even Facebook (generally known for friends, family, and fun) can be utilized to bring some zest and pizzazz to the most serious of meetings. This one and a half hour will explore how to use social media in a targeted way to make meetings better, more productive, and even more fun using tips and tricks for social media.
