Msnbc Comment Puts Debate in Air
SEATTLE | A comment about Chelsea Clinton by an MSNBC anchor could imperil Hillary Rodham Clinton’s participation in future presidential debates on the network, a spokesman said.
Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson on Friday excoriated MSNBC’s David Shuster for suggesting the Clinton campaign had "pimped out" Chelsea, 27, by having her phone celebrities and "superdelegates" on her mother’s behalf.
"I, at this point, can’t envision a scenario where we would continue to engage in debates on that network," he said.
MSNBC said Shuster, who apologized on air, has been temporarily suspended . Clinton and opponent Barack Obama are scheduled to debate on MSNBC on Feb. 26 .
bill clinton learns lesson
WASHINGTON | Former President Clinton said in an interview with NBC affiliate WCSH-TV that he’s learned a lesson over his remarks on the campaign trail – he can promote his wife’s presidential candidacy, but he’s not free to defend her.
He also said everything he said in South Carolina about Illinois Sen. Barack Obama was "factually accurate" but a lot that has been said about what he said is "factually inaccurate."
Clinton called Obama’s celebrated opposition to the Iraq war "a fairy tale " and suggested an Obama victory in South Carolina would be a racial one .
