Beaten Hillary’s Aide Axe
SHAKEN Hillary Clinton sacked her campaign manager yesterday after a clean sweep for Barack Obama in five key states over the weekend – putting them almost neck and neck in their battle.
Patti Solis Doyle was replaced by long time Clinton aide Maggie Williams.
It came after Mr Obama won in polls in Washington state, Nebraska, Louisiana and US Virgin Islands on Saturday and Maine last night.
Ms Solis Doyle said she will still serve as a senior adviser to Mrs Clinton.
Mrs Clinton said the “longest presidential campaign in history has required enormous sacrifices of everyone”.
Meanwhile Nobel prizewinning author Doris Lessing said she fears Mr Obama will be assasinated if he becomes the first black US President.
Ms Lessing, 88, told a Swedish paper: “He would certainly not last long… they would murder him.”
