Ex-DNC Chair Now Backs Obama, Not Clinton

Superdelegate Joe Andrew, an ex-Democratic National Committee chair, switched his support from the Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
Andrew, named DNC chair when Clinton's husband was president, also wrote a letter to other superdelegates, urging them to commit to Obama as well, The Hill reported Thursday.
The battle should not be amongst ourselves, Andrew wrote. We should focus our efforts on those who are truly on the opposite side: those who want to continue the failed policies of the last eight years.
Andrew called upon other superdelegates -- elected officials and party leaders not bound by primary or caucus results -- to come together right now and support Obama.
Acknowledging the 180-degree turn may snub Clinton supporters and fracture the party, Andrew wrote, It is ... incumbent on all of us who once supported Senator Clinton to welcome the thousands who should now switch their support to Senator Obama.
