Hillary Clinton was projected to handily win Kentucky's Democratic presidential primary Tuesday over rival Barack Obama.
The New York senator had been favored to win the Bluegrass State, with its large working-class electorate. With 90 percent of precincts reporting, Clinton led Obama by 35 points, 65 percent to 30 percent, CNN reported.
It's not just Kentucky bluegrass that's music to my ears. It's the sound of your overwhelming vote of confidence even in the face of some pretty tough odds, Clinton told supporters in Louisville.
Exit polls had indicated Clinton won among men 62 percent to 32 percent, and among women 67 percent to 27 percent.
Additionally, Clinton also beat Obama across all age groups, income groups and education levels, CNN said.
The exit polls also indicated 89 percent of voters in Kentucky's primary were white, while 9 percent were African American.
Among whites, Clinton won 72 percent of the vote, compared to Obama's 22 percent, while black voters overwhelmingly supported Obama, 87 percent to 7 percent.
