Hillary Clinton to Release Delegates

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., will release her delegates to vote for Barack Obama, a statement from the Democratic National Convention committee in Denver said.
Clinton, who challenged Obama during a tightly fought Democratic primary, also planned to cast her vote for Obama, a U.S. senator from Illinois, and his running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., to be the party's nominees for president and vice president, The Hill reported.
Obama is set to accept the party presidential nomination Thursday. Biden is to accept the vice presidential nod Wednesday.
Clinton met with her backers Wednesday to discuss what will happen during the formal vote where the party's candidate becomes the party's nominee, the Washington publication said. Speculation had been that her supporters would push for Clinton's nomination; however, Clinton called for party unity in her speech Tuesday, declaring herself "a proud supporter for Barack Obama."
Clinton's husband, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, will speak Wednesday before Biden.
