Vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin jabbed the opposition while introducing herself at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., Wednesday.
After accepting the party's vice presidential nomination, Alaska's Gov. Palin spoke of her family and about GOP presidential hopeful John McCain, and delivered zingers directed at Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
After her speech, with her family on stage, Palin welcomed John McCain, the Arizona senator who will deliver his acceptance speech Thursday.
"Don't you think we made the right choice for the next vice president of the United States?" McCain asked an enthusiastic crowd.
Remarking about Obama's resume, Palin said her mayorship of Wasilla, Alaska, "is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."
She also zapped media outlets, saying, "here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion -- I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country. "
A McCain-Palin administration will work to bring about energy independence, reduce taxes and streamline government with integrity, she said.
"No one expects us to agree on everything," she said. "But we are expected to govern with integrity, good will, clear convictions and a servant's heart."
America has a clear choice in November, the first-term governor said.
"If character is the measure in this election and hope the theme and change the goal we share," she said, "then I ask you to join our cause."
